Village By-Election – Kim and Tope

On Thursday November 28th, residents of Village ward will vote for two councillors to represent them following one resignation – Margaret Mullane MP – and the sad passing of Cllr Lee Waker.

Kim Arrowsmith, candidate for the Green Party

Kim Arrowsmith is a Dagenham headteacher, who has worked in Barking and Dagenham for 8 years. Kim also stood as Green Party candidate for the Dagenham and Rainham constituency this year.

He is very concerned about the chronic underfunding of our public services, and particularly the impact this is having on the ability of our schools and hospitals to deliver for the local community.

Kim knows that the cost of living crisis has hit Dagenham residents hard and believes the Council should be doing more to support people with this. He also believes in protecting our vital green spaces from the threat of over development.

Tope Olawoyin, candidate for the Green Party.

Tope Olawoyin is a senior marketing and business development professional, writer, social and political analyst, podcast host, and co-creator of the media platform Blvck Canvas. Blvck Canvas amplifies lesser-heard voices in meaningful discussions about politics and current affairs through its podcast and YouTube content.

Tope lives in Dagenham with her family and joined the Green Party this year after becoming disillusioned with the Labour Party. She aims to be an independent Green voice that holds the Labour Council accountable, listens to the community, and fights for your improved quality of life and the local community.
